In short
- My prices are published: £500 for a one-page site, £950 for up to five pages, £2,500 for the lot.
- Budget for running costs too. Hosting starts at £35 a month, so year one on my five-page pack is £1,370 plus your domain.
- Ask any web designer for a fixed price, the year-two cost and what you get if you leave.
- Online shops, custom tools and apps are quoted separately, at a fixed price, once we know the scope.
How much does a small business website cost? With me, a fixed £500 for one page, £950 for up to five pages, or £2,500 for up to twelve with full local SEO, all ex VAT. No "it depends". Here's what's in each, what it costs to keep running, and what a real build looked like.
What does a small business website cost in the UK?
Most UK guides give a spread of roughly £500 to £5,000 for a small-business website. Both ends can be fair. At the bottom you usually get one person and a few pages. At the top you usually get an agency: a project manager, a designer, a developer and a few meetings.
What actually moves the price is simpler than it looks:
- How many pages. One page for a phone number, or a page for every service you sell.
- Who writes the words. Copy is where most of the time goes.
- Anything custom. A quote tool, a filtered gallery, a form that asks the right follow-up questions.
- Who looks after it afterwards. Hosting, backups, edits.
What I charge, and exactly what's in £500
Here's my price list, fixed, before I start. Each pack includes everything in the one before it.
- The Pup, £500. One page, mobile-perfect, with the words written for you, a contact form and a map, and a tidy-up of your Google Business Profile. Live in a week.
- The Good Boy, £950. The one most people pick. Up to five pages, copy and on-page SEO written for you, hand-drawn touches and motion, and an enquiry form built to convert. Two to three weeks once I have your photos and answers.
- The Top Dog, £2,500. Up to twelve pages, full local SEO (profile, listings, a page for each town you serve), a bespoke tool, a socials launch month, email set up and three months of the Care Plan included.
Prices exclude VAT; if your business isn't VAT registered, the price you see is what you pay. So if you're asking how much a five-page website costs: with me, £950. For a feel of a multi-page site, P1 Wraps has a page for each of its thirteen services and a gallery filtered by service.
What a real build looked like: V Signs
V Signs is a sign and wrap company near Petersfield with more than twenty years behind it. Their job was bigger than any pack: 59 pages, including 21 service pages and 11 town pages, plus two tools. The Sign Finder asks eight plain-English questions and recommends the right service. The gallery puts an "I want something like this" button on every photo, so the enquiry arrives with the picture the customer was looking at.

The website was one part of a six-month engagement that also covered their Google Business Profile, listings and social media. The brief came in on 6 June 2026, and the site went live on their own domain on 5 September, after the content, the SEO work and a full pre-launch audit.
The costs nobody quotes
The build is only the first number. Here's the rest:
- Your domain. A .co.uk renews at roughly £12 to £27 a year, depending on the registrar. I help you register it and you pay that yearly cost. If you ever move it elsewhere, the transfer is £25.
- Hosting. The Kennel is £35 a month: hosting, daily backups, SSL, updates and email support. Monthly, no contract.
- Edits. Text and images you can change yourself by clicking them on the live page. If you'd rather I did it, the Care Plan is £250 a month for monthly edits, new sections and same-day support.
- Email. Mailboxes from Google or Microsoft are charged per user, whoever builds your site.
So, first-year totals with me: £920 for the Pup plus the Kennel, £1,370 for the Good Boy plus the Kennel, plus your domain. Year two is £420 of hosting plus the domain. Once the build is paid, the site is yours. If you stop hosting, it comes down 30 days later and you get your site files with instructions to host them anywhere. More on what happens if you stop paying for hosting.
When it costs more than a pack
The packs cover what most small businesses need. Some jobs are bigger, and I quote those on their own:
- An online shop. I build shops on WooCommerce, SureCart and Magento, sized to how many products you sell and how you take payment.
- A custom tool or app. A quote calculator, a booking system, customer logins, a client portal: the parts of your business that a template can't do.
These are still fixed prices, agreed before I start. The difference is the scope, not who builds it.
How to get a straight quote from anyone
Whoever you talk to, ask these five questions:
- Is that a fixed price, and what exactly is in it?
- Who writes the words?
- What will it cost me each year after launch?
- Who registers the domain, and what does it cost to move it?
- What happens if I stop paying, and what do I leave with?
If you're also weighing up doing it yourself, I've done the Squarespace and Wix maths over three years too.

Questions people ask
How much should a 5-page website cost in the UK?
Most UK guides put it somewhere between £500 and £5,000, depending on who writes the words and how much is custom. With me it's £950 fixed, including the copy, on-page SEO, an enquiry form and a Google Business Profile tidy-up. Add hosting from £35 a month to keep it live.
How much does a website cost per month?
With me, from £35 a month for hosting, backups, SSL and email support, or £250 a month if you want edits and new sections done for you. Both are monthly with no contract. Your domain renews once a year on top, and email mailboxes are billed per user by Google or Microsoft, whoever builds your site.
Is a low-cost website worth it?
It can be, if the price is fixed and you know what's in it. The risk isn't a small number, it's a small number that grows: extra charges for words, edits or moving away later. Ask what year two costs and what you walk away with if you leave, before you pay anything.
